Pre-Summer Delights

Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace face off as Frenemies in Brian De Palma’s Passion.

Updates have been few and far between from me on the news front about current happenings on the telly, movie and small screens and I apologize but I had been working on the script of my new film project which is now and truly in development. “When Ashes Fall” has actually begun its fundraising campaign, for more information visit its website/blog.

Popular and very much in demand actress Noomi Rapace has along with her up-coming summer blockbuster, “Prometheus” set to hit theaters come June 8th, a starring role in director Brian De Palma’s Passion along with Rachel McAdams.

The film now in post-production, most likely set for a Venice Film Festival début is being described as a loose remake of Alain Corneau’s 2010 French film “Love Crime” with Kristin Scott-Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier. How different Passion will be to the original is yet unknown, but with the release of the film’s first official photo on Noomi Rapace Online and subsequent synopsis;

Brian de Palma’s PASSION tells the story of a deadly power struggle between two women in the dog-eat-dog world of international business. Christine possesses the natural elegance and casual ease associated with one who has a healthy relationship with money and power. Innocent, lovely and easily exploited, her admiring protégé Isabelle is full of cutting-edge ideas that Christine has no qualms about stealing. They’re on the same team, after all… Christine takes pleasure in exercising control over the younger woman, leading her one step at a time ever deeper into a game of seduction and manipulation, dominance and humiliation. But when Isabelle falls into bed with one of Christine’s lovers, war breaks out. On the night of the murder, Isabelle is at the ballet, while Christine receives an invitation to seduction. From whom? Christine loves surprises. Naked she goes to meet the mystery lover waiting in her bedroom…

should give us some indication. This seems a fitting subject for the contentious director’s first piece in six years, with films like Body Double, Femme Fatale and The Black Dahlia. I for one await with knife and fork to eat this one up!

Also on the docket this week are three trailers. The first one is a favourite among lesbians of every age, ABC Family’s hit series “Pretty Little Liars” Season 3 Trailer. The upcoming season will première on June 5th, 2012 with a full slate of 24 episodes.

The season takes place six months after the discovery that Mona Vanderwall (Janel Parrish) is the elusive “A” that has been tormenting four teenage girls, Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale), Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell). It will also address the issue of whether or not Garrett Reynolds (Yani Gellman) actually killed or was involved in the murder of the girls’ former best friend and queen bee, Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse), and how Mona achieved her role as “A”.

The second trailer I have for you has been well worth the wait. It is from the eagerly awaited film from filmmaker, Nicole Conn’s (Elena Undone, Claire of the Moon) “A Perfect Ending” starring Barbara Niven and Jessica Clark.
